November 9, 2011 AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY AND AMERICAN ENERGY ALLIANCE LAUNCHES ENERGY FOR AMERICA TOUR Stop planned at CMU, calling for energy reform MT. PLEASANT, MI – Concerned with the effect of rising energy costs to Michigan’s economy, the College Republicans at Central Michigan University are co-sponsoring a stop for the Americans for Prosperity’s Energy for America Tour to highlight policies that would lower the cost of energy and help create jobs and economic prosperity. “America is a nation rich with energy resources. Unfortunately, most of our energy resources have been placed off-limits by President Obama, federal elected officials, and unelected bureaucrats,” said Scott Hagerstrom, state director of Americans for Prosperity-Michigan. “The result is gas prices above $3 a gallon at a time when Michigan faces a double-dip recession.” “The Energy for America tour is all about reducing the burden of energy prices on Michigan families by encouraging domestic exploration and production of our vast energy resources and getting government out of the free market – taxpayers should never have been on the hook for companies like Solyndra,” explained Hagerstrom. Americans for Prosperity’s Energy for America Tour will join grassroots activists and local leaders in Mount Pleasant. The Energy for America Tour bus will stop in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 12 p.m. at Central Michigan University, corner of Anspach and Pearce Halls. To register for a tour stop or for more information, visit www.MichiganAFP.com. In addition, citizens can sign a petition at www.EnergyForAmerica.org telling Washington enough is enough — it's time to get America working again. Editor’s Note: Energy for America is a joint project of Americans for Prosperity, American Energy Alliance, and the Institute for Energy Research. Americans for Prosperity-Michigan is a statewide organization of 65,000 activists committed to strengthening our constitutional government, establishing fiscal restraint, and giving taxpayers greater control over government. We are dedicated to recruiting, training, educating and motivating grassroots activists to be effective in their own communities.
